IntenselyNick Fuzzy rock does not get much better than this. Redshift City is a brilliant release along with being a wonderful showcase for the many talents of Thermate Favorite track: Greener Pastures.

Smekermann This is a great retro/hard rock album. It feels like the band doesn't have anything to prove to anyone - they're not the heaviest, the fastest, the fuzziest, the doomiest, etc. Instead the album is just incredibly well put together - it's cohesive, tasteful and full of interesting guitar work. The acoustic section in Greener Pastures, with a lazy slide guitar solo, which is then harmonized by the second guitar, is gorgeous, and sounds like something you'd hear on a Wishbone Ash album. Favorite track: Godspeed.

I am the fifth, I am the lord of the sky Fear not, no one will hear you cry Come onto me, I’ll show you secrets I hide My stormy nature makes you mine Yeah Reveal the truth behind the eyes The eyes of Jupiter You’re mesmerised by the visions I behold Telling stories once untold Your trip was fortunate but now it is stalled Unreachable I am no more Yeah Reveal the truth behind the eyes The eyes of Jupiter Darkness surrounding me It’s like a sea The cold bites to the bone Down to the core Down to the core Yeah, to the bone The engine’s old, the fuel runs low It’s been foretold My journey will now end Now I am spent Yeah, I am spent Yeah, to the end Transmission out

Godspeed 06:30
I’m getting anxious but I feel at ease Weight of the world keeps me on my feet A lot of trust, a lot faith Befell on me My palms are sweaty and I’m ready to go There are no icons left for me to bow Farewell to home, farewell to the Earth It’s my escape Traverse the dark horizon The stars become a sea A trip for eternity Propel me through the vacuum The stars become a sea A trip for eternity Little by little I am gaining speed From gravity I will soon be freed I’m pushing through the atmosphere I’m getting there The last glimpse of home is nigh The blueish glow is left behind Farewell to home, farewell to the Earth Make my escape, yeah I’ll make it Traverse the dark horizon The stars become a sea A trip for eternity Propel me through the vacuum The stars become a sea A trip for eternity I’m getting anxious but I feel at ease Weight of the world keeps me on my feet A lot of trust, a lot of faith Befell on me, Godspeed is all I need Godspeed

Soliloquy 07:03
The window is It is my only friend now All I see Some distant debris and it's Floating through space The white walls Are all I'm talking to now It's been a while Since I have looked behind What's this I’ve found? Don't make a sound I need an embrace I’m drifting in space I know What I've been told That there is more Something unknown Yeah, I know I've been shown Where I have gone What did I agree upon Oh, when your head is carved out hollow When doubt is creeping to your mind The mirror tells a different story Is this the trip that's been worthwhile?
4.
Kaleidoscope 04:02
5.
Nothing on the horizon I'm flying blind A distant light is shining It beacons me come closer And I am sold I can't explain it, how it feels The shakes they come surprising I'm in its hold Now there's no turning back I’m ready to go Controls tell what I'm seeing But it's too late I'm a fireball raining down like brimstone Clouds open up to greener pastures There's someone with a welcoming face It seems I'll be alright because I'm greeted with a smile I don't recognise any of this What is this place Trying to make some sense of it I'm in a haze A friendly face Would be nice for a change But that's not the case That's not the case this time
6.
100 Years 09:00
As the distance is growing more stunning In this time and space All I know hasn't ever looked better The further I get At some point I'll be left all alone Yeah, and my heart is as heavy as stone Through it all I keep my head held high What else am I to do One day repressed minds will be free Am I blind? Yeah Seek for a light See where it hides I am blind Situation's becoming more dire Every second I breathe Any message I send won't be answered For one hundred years Facts discovered are met with resent Yeah, I know they will be condemned Still I'm recording my thoughts to be answered In one hundred years One day repressed minds will be free Am I blind? Yeah Seek for a light See where it hides I am blind To see everything is false So as now time goes by And my mind is so black Now I show a keen interest In finding a way back home Though I fear I won't get there Because I'm forever lost Is it something to dwell on? Or is it just a lost cause? Am I blind? Yeah Seek for a light See where it hides I am blind To see everything is false

about

"THERMATE’s juggernaut through the radioactive desert continues unabated with “Redshift City”! Six delicious, dripping Stoner riff-outs with all the verve and cocksure attitude we know and love!"
Reek of STOOM (Stoner HiVe)

"Arthur Thure’s vocals are perfectly suited to wringing every last drop of emotion out of the Finnish quartet’s finest work: Thermate’s swaggering frontman boasts a throaty range to die for and rarely delivers anything less than 100 per cent fury. Trading top billing with twin guitar threat Mikko Väätäinen and Juuso Honkanen, Thure coasts through Redshift City and it’s difficult to believe this is the band’s full-length debut."
(Rushonrock)

"Thermate is one of the best 70s-style stoner metal bands out there right now. They make some very slinky and sexy riff rock that I defy you to not involuntarily bob your head to. Their latest record, Redshift City, is a reminder that just because a style is established doesn’t mean it should go ignored."
(Heavy Blog Is Heavy)

"THERMATE are among the more original representatives of the inextricably dense Stoner Doom pool. They win in particular with their strong singer and imaginative handling of relatively little motivic material, without becoming monotonous for even a single moment."
(musikreviews)

"This is another album that really benefits from subsequent listens, and has enough merits that it deserves more than just a single cursory run through."
(Metal Temple)

"Vocalist Arthur Thure has a great voice, languid and measured, but brimming over with a great melodic intent throughout. Likewise the twin guitars of Mikko Väätäinen and Juuso Honkanen are used to very good effect, none more so than on the fabulous '100 Years'. Sure, it's a genre that's over-populated by mediocrity at times, but thankfully Thermate are anything but mediocre"
(Powerplay Magazine)
